Well I suppose this is old news so I didnt post it in the news section. "We finally got to the bottom of this last night," said Dave Cole, Symantec's senior director for product management of its consumer software. "All of these problems are related to the same thing, a Microsoft file that created all the garbage entries [in the registry]."

Hi! As you've said, this is "old news" - the link is to a May 2008 article. Do you know whether the information in this article continues to be a problem, or was it resolved subsequent to the May release of the article?

No, no I don't I stoped using xp after SP3 messed me up and made it so I couldnt install IE7 or FF...

I use XP x64 SP2 :/ Much more stable, continuing support, and noticeably more responsive, too.
