Getting the 1979 264 GLE ready for the roadworthy inspection and degreased the engine yesterday, carefully, so I thought. Tried to avoid electrical connections and used only a partially opened flow from an open ended garden hose. Was balky starting and didn't want to idle but I ran it for a fair while with an higher rpm to dry any excess water. This morning it started - although begrudgingly - died and now won't restart. Any helpful ideas welcomed!

Hi coolred!..I"ve done this after pressure washing the car and even though the car got me home it was lumpy for a long time...my crazy suggestion is careful use of a good hairdryer around the electrics..not too close to components...around ht leads ignition coil etc..even a hairdryer can melt plastic in no time.....good luck!..hj.

If memory serves me (and it usually doesn't) Maplins sell contact cleaner spray for electronic doodahs. That will often clean them up successfully, though you might need to give it a couple of doses.
